The Chamber of Commerce Southwestern Madison County is hosting its Annual Business & Industry Appreciation Evening. For the first time the chamber is creating a dialogue for a partnership between the business community and educational system.
This event will bring entities together celebrating programs offered to students and the residents. A video will show the earliest preparation of young students, to the ongoing career preparation of older students.
The attendees will be able to appreciate and enjoy a special project specifically chosen for this event. Two local students have accepted the challenge of filming and editing a video profiling education.
Sean McCarthy will be introduced as the interim director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. He will share the stage with Ms. Amy Shaw, senior vice president of community engagement for Channel 9 Public Media. She will represent education while McCarthy will represent business in a conversation on the stage.
The event will start at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, with a social hour, an art exhibit and a jazz group, all provided by schools. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by the evening program. The event will be at the Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville.
