PONTOON BEACH — Walking into the entrance of the new Fairfield Inn, a guest will find a comfortable and high-tech facility that aims to fit the needs of working warriors.
“The hotel has 81 suites for guests to occupy,” Fairfield General Manager Andy Patel said. “We’ve seen upward of 200 guests during our first weekend. We have different-size rooms that can hold up to four people comfortably.”
Fairfield has gone above and beyond to provide amenities for all people, paying attention to the needs of those with disabilities.
“This hotel is what’s considered a Generation 4 hotel,” Patel said. “It’s designed for working travelers where the furniture, desks and technology is designed to make it easier for business on the go to help people be more productive. We have paid attention to the little things for our guests. We have a room with a roll-in shower on the main floor and lifts in both the pool and hot tub. We have a total of six handicap-accessible rooms as well as TTY device for those with hearing impairments.”
Located on Interstate 111 near the 270 and 255 interchange, the Fairfield Inn is one of only six prototype Marriott Hotels in the United States. The Fairfield Inn and Suites is within eight miles of downtown St. Louis, allowing an opportunity to bring traveling traffic to the region.
Larry Manns, of Larry Manns Development, is the owner of the 100-acre 270 Commerce Park as well as the Bel-Aire Commerce Park and is continuing his plans to develop future projects.
“It’s all about location,” Manns said. “The traffic count in front of this hotel is more than 60,000 cars a day. This is a great location on flat land that has prime conditions for building in a great town. This area has a lot to offer the region, it was just underdeveloped. I’ve put four properties in this area, a McDonalds, a Taco Bell, a Mobil Mart and now the Marriott Hotel. This project has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to see it finally get under way.”
Along with a large dining area, the Fairfield offers a workout room equipped with treadmills, ellipticals and free weights for guests who wish to maintain their physical fitness while on the road. A conference room is available with a 60-inch TV with HDMI capabilities, Internet connections and seating for 50 people. The hotel has more than 6,000 square feet of free-standing restaurant, dining and bar area.
“I was part of this project from day one; I did the electrical work for the hotel,” Pontoon Beach Mayor Mike Pagano said. “This is a great hotel with a beautiful atmosphere with a great family operating the location. The Patel family has owned hotels in our town before and we have a great working relationship with them. They have very high standards for their locations.”
Each suite contains a sleep number bed, a separate living space, office work-station, two TVs, a microwave, refrigerator and large bathroom.
