WOOD RIVER — A new restaurant has opened its doors at 1800 Vaughn Road.
With burritos and wraps appearing on the menu, the main course of Goldy’s Chick-N-Mex restaurant is fried chicken.
Owner Dave Sanchez said he is proud and excited about this next step in his life.
“We are really busy right now, because of our recent opening, but it has gone really well so far,” he said.
Goldy’s is much different than Sanchez’s Mexican restaurant in Edwardsville, Los Alamos, which he opened back in 2013. Unlike Goldy’s, Los Alamos serves authentic Mexican food.
Sanchez said he enjoys many features of the restaurant and area.
“I really love the location and the different styles of restaurants around the area,” he said. “I also really love the drive-through. I have never had one before.”
Sanchez manages to balance his time between his two restaurants, but also enjoys hobbies outside of work.
“I love spending time with my family and my sons,” he said.
Even though he loves to be with his family, work is always there.
“We don’t have many choices in this life; we’ve got to work to pay the bills,” he said, laughing.
The grand opening of Goldy’s Chick-N-Mex was only the beginning and Sanchez is ready to see what the future holds for the business.
Goldy’s is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. For information, visit www.facebook.com/goldyschicknmex.
