ALTON — “Rehabbing” is not just something Alton Rehab and Nursing does … it’s something being done to them.
Last year, Integrity Healthcare Management, a company that oversees a number of health care facilities throughout the Greater Alton, Southern Illinois and St. Louis areas, purchased the short- and long-term care facility at 3523 Wickenhauser Ave. (along with Blu Fountain Manor in Godfrey and VIP Manor in Wood River).
The new ownership is having a major impact on care, including offering residents large, semi-private rooms that have been updated to meet residents’ needs more than before.
Extensive remodeling includes turning three-bed units into two-bed units. So far, the majority of short-term care rooms have undergone extensive remodeling, including new bathrooms, ceilings, fixtures and amenities.
Next on the list will be remodeling the long-term care rooms to make those semi-private rooms as well.
“Our goal is simple … to serve people with the highest level of care,” Marketing and Admissions Director Sandra Hornsey said.
Alton Rehab and Nursing and the new ownership’s desire to serve people extend beyond its walls. They are active in giving back to the community, helping with food drives, toy drives and participating in the annual Alton Halloween Parade, where they placed fourth. This holiday season, they provided gifts for children visiting Santa at the annual tree-lighting ceremony at Lincoln Douglas Square, and also are members of the Chamber of Commerce.
For those who can no longer live alone, Alton Rehab and Nursing is a logical option. Both long- and short-term care is available and speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy are offered in-house for residents. Patients are primarily senior citizens and are admitted based on doctor recommendations.
“We are dedicated to providing the best possible care in the most home-like environment,” registered nurse and Director of Nursing Ashley Cline said. “We have an extremely dedicated staff focused on advocating for the residents. Every day we strive to be better, making a positive change in our residents’ lives.”
Alton Rehab and Nursing accepts Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid Meridian and Medicaid Molina. It encourages anyone to check out the facility and can assist patients transitioning from Medicare to Medicaid.
“I have enjoyed building an excellent management team at Alton Rehab and Nursing,” Executive Director Terrie Weible said. “My goal as executive director is to become Alton’s premier long-term care provider.”
