State tourism officials will visit Alton next week to honor Old Bakery Beer Company and Mississippi Mud Pottery.
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Tourism is honoring official Illinois makers as part of its Illinois Made initiative. Tourism officials are honoring makers, creators and artisans unique to Illinois to inspire and promote travel throughout the state.
Launched this summer, Illinois Made highlights the depth and diversity of Illinois’ makers’ communities to encourage people to extend their travel beyond a day trip by exploring local businesses and nearby attractions.
At 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, tourism officials will visit Mississippi Mud Pottery, 310 E. Broadway in Alton, and Old Bakery Beer Company, 400 Landmarks Blvd., to present the official Illinois Made plaque and showcase how each maker is being featured through online video content, interactive maps or Illinois Made-inspired travel ideas on EnjoyIllinois.com/Illinoismade.
The two businesses join 10 other makers being honored the week of Sept. 26.
