ROSEWOOD HEIGHTS — Local bow hunters are excited about a new business that opened July 14 on Airline Drive. Just Shoot is an indoor archery range offering a variety of services for hunters.
“I’m thrilled they put in a shop here locally,” East Alton resident and avid hunter Travis Koogler said. “I’m a person that has had to drive about 45 minutes to get work done on my bow. I know I’ll be going to the new shop a lot. It’s just a few minutes from my house. That will save me a lot. The fact that they have a range and a person on site that can do custom work, being so close it’ll save me so much time.”
Appealing to hunters and giving them options close to home was a driving force for Just Shoot to become a reality.
“We have a lot of people who hunt in our area,” co-owner and Roxana graduate Brendan Manley said. “Bow hunters around here had to travel up to an hour away to get their bow serviced or use a range to improve their skills. We wanted to give the local hunters another option that is closer to home, competitive on price and offer some services that you can’t find in one single location.”
Services include an in-house bow repair technician, a 3-D range and target lanes, hunting supplies and private archery lessons.
“We offer a 30-minute lesson for new bow hunters or for people who just need to be refreshed,” Manley said. “We charge just $15 for the lesson. We don’t just want to sell a bow to someone and send them out. We want to make sure that our clients know how to use their bow in a safe way and get all they can from it.”
Along with business services offered at Just Shoot, archery can be enjoyed at the new location.
“We are currently organizing some tournaments for our customers,” co-owner Steven Russell said. “We have a sign-up sheet here in the store and would love for our customers to sign up and we can get some competitive tournaments running. One tournament we’re going to offer is a poker shoot, which are challenging and can earn some local bragging rights.”
Just Shoot offers a rustic, clean and spacious atmosphere in a central location. Bow hunters are asked to bring their trophy photos to Just Shoot to be placed on the Wall of Fame and check out the facility.
Just Shoot is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sunday. Customers can get information about Just Shoot on Facebook or call the store at (618) 709-6076 or (618) 973-9046.
