ALTON — Residents can show support for Hayner Library Public Library District and save money at their favorite small businesses by participating in the library’s second annual Library Card Drive.
Residents can check the library’s website at the beginning of November for a list of local businesses offering discounts for showing a Hayner library card from Saturday, Nov. 29, to Saturday, Dec. 6.
Residents who don’t have a library card can get one at the Downtown or Alton Square library before the end of November. They will need to fill out a short library card application and provide a photo identification — a valid driver’s license or state ID with their current residence. If the photo ID does not have a current address, they will need to provide a piece of business mail (utility bill, bank statement, etc.) dated within the last 30 days as proof of residency.
Businesses in Alton, Godfrey, and Fosterburg will offer a discount or other incentive to customers showing their library cards for the week starting on Small Business Saturday (Sat., Nov. 29) to encourage residents to shop locally for the holidays. Businesses that would like to participate or want more information can contact Lacy McDonald at (618) 433-2859 or email@example.com by Nov. 3.
