EDWARDSVILLE — Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons and Associate Judge David Grounds will preside over a graduation ceremony for students completing the Juvenile Diversion program on Thursday.
The program, founded in 2006 by the Rev. Tim Stark of Navigation Church of Collinsville, is designed as an alternative to juvenile court for youth offenders. Thursday’s ceremony marks the students’ successful completion of the program. Eighteen students are scheduled to graduate.
Gibbons originally provided support for the program as an assistant state’s attorney in 2006 and has been an advocate ever since. The program serves teens and their families in partnership with the State’s Attorney’s Office, Probation Department, local police departments and the Public Defender’s Office.
The graduation ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Madison County Courthouse, Courtroom 103, 155 N. Main St., Edwardsville.
