GODFREY — A 3-year-old who nearly drowned in a swimming pool is expected to recover, police said Monday.
According to a Madison County Sheriff’s Department press release, sheriff’s deputies responded at 1:12 p.m. Sunday to the 4800 block of Pear Tree Lane for a 911 call that a child had fallen into a swimming pool. Deputies arrived and determined the child was found by adults unconscious near the bottom of the in-ground pool. The child was removed from the pool and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed. The child began breathing prior to the arrival of deputies and emergency medical services personnel. The child was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Police said there was no evidence of neglect leading to the incident.
