The theme for the conference was “Rollin’ on the River.” Eleanor Gregory received the Grand Award for her report about Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. Claudia Harju received a Grand Prize for her cultural arts entry in a crocheted garment. The group attended workshops and lessons that can be used in Madison County for unit lessons.
After the conference, Eleanor Gregory hosted Rutt Tuvike and Ene Paks of Estonia for three days to the sights in the area including Alton and Missouri Botanical Garden, to name a few. The group also had a meet and greet for the women.
MCAHCE has many active units in Madison County. It was first known as Home Bureau, then Homemakers Extension. Today it is Home and Community Education. The goal is to educate members while promoting social and economic well-being. It is an organization that gives back to the community and county.
