GODFREY — The annual Cookies and Cocoa for Community Christmas event will return to Freer Auto Body early next month.
Residents can stop by Freer Auto Body, 4512 N. Alby St., with donations of money, toys or coats for Community Christmas from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, and warm up with a cup of cocoa and cookies. Guests can register to win a battery-operated vehicle.
According to the Southwest Illinois Division of United Way of Greater St. Louis’ website, the 25th annual Community Christmas donation drive began Tuesday, Nov. 4, with collection boxes being delivered to more than 100 businesses and organizations.
The program collects items to help more than 6,000 people. Community Christmas will wrap up Dec. 11, when boxes will be collected from organizations and taken to a central location for sorting and distribution.
