EDWARDSVILLE ‒– An East Alton woman whose body was found in a moving van died of hypothermia, Madison County Coroner Stephen P. Nonn said in a press release Friday.
Frances M. Ragan, 42, of the 400 block of East Airwood Drive, was pronounced dead at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 8 in the cab of a U-Haul van in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store at 405 Broadway, South Roxana.
Ragan died as a result of exposure to cold temperatures. The coroner’s pathologist also found acute intoxication with methadone, methamphetamine, and citalopram contributed to her death. The toxicology testing was negative for alcohol.
The South Roxana Police Department also investigated the death.
