CARLINVILLE — The Carlinville Tourism Committee invites Carlinville Christmas Market guests to experience local history firsthand Saturday, Dec. 6, during tours of the “Million Dollar” Macoupin County Courthouse and a restored Sears home at 1039 N. Charles.
Both the courthouse and the Sears Home will be decorated for Christmas. The tours will be held every 30 minutes from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the last tour at 3 p.m. and feature a photo scavenger hunt for children.
“It is important to have these historically significant places available not only to those who visit our Christmas Market but also to those who call Carlinville home,” Carlinville Tourism Committee Director Becky Bernhardt said. “All of the money raised from the tours goes to the Carlinville Tourism Committee, an arm of the Chamber of Commerce that aims to promote Carlinville as a place families would like to visit and live.”
Tickets for the tour cost $3 each or $5 for a combination ticket. Admission is free for children younger than 12.
