The employees of GCS Credit Union recently presented Special Olympics Illinois with a donation check for $1,000.
Throughout the year, employees of GCS are given the opportunity to wear jeans on Fridays and Saturdays for $20. The funds collected go to a specified charity.
The Special Olympics Area 12 was founded in 1973 and provides programming for residents of Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Fayette, Jersey, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, St. Clair and Washington counties. Area 12 serves more than 1,130 athletes, has 66 active agencies and about 1,010 Class A volunteers. Area 12 offers competition for athletes in 12 sports and hosted 11 competitions in 2012.
GCS supports charitable organizations each year, including the March of Dimes, the Illinois Center for Autism and the National Children’s Cancer Society.
