ALTON — A 20-year-old Alton woman was charged Tuesday with four felonies after police say she struck another woman with a vehicle.
Pfc. Emily Hejna said Ashley N. Ellison, of the 1000 block of Willard Avenue in Alton, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery that inflicted great bodily harm and failure to report an accident involving injuries.
Ellison drove a vehicle into a 25-year-old woman from South Roxana at about 8:50 p.m. Monday in the 2700 block of Sanford Avenue, Hejna said.
“It’s an ongoing investigation, but our investigation has led us to believe that the act was intentional,” Hejna said.
The victim was transported via helicopter from an Alton hospital to a St. Louis hospital, where she is being treated for potentially life-threatening injuries.
Ellison is in police custody and her bond is set at $500,000.
