WOOD RIVER — A Belleville man was charged Friday with burglary for a break-in earlier this month at Lucy’s Place in the 1800 block of Vaughn Road.
John P. Desroches, 42, was charged with the Class 2 felony, punishable by three to seven years in prison, by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office. Bond was set at $100,000.
Wood River officers responded to a burglar alarm at 1:34 a.m. Feb. 7 at the business. On arrival, officers discovered the front glass door shattered. The suspect had already fled after taking cash from the business.
Video surveillance and good police work helped lead investigators to the suspect, Deputy Chief Dan Bunt said in a press release Friday.
Desroches is not in custody. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Wood River Police Department at (618) 251-3114.
The business' website describes it as an upscale neighborhood coffee house, pub and deli providing video gaming entertainment.
