A Cottage Hills woman was charged Thursday in Madison County Circuit Court with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (buprenorphine), Madison County Sheriff Robert J. Hertz said in a press release.
The woman is identified as Cassandra L. Eldridge, 19, of the 1300 block of First Street.
On Thursday, March 6, at 1:18 a.m., a sheriff’s deputy stopped a car on Illinois 140, Cottage Hills, for a lane usage offense. Eldridge, the vehicle’s passenger, was taken into custody on an alcohol-related warrant issued out of the Jersey County. Eldridge was subsequently found to be in possession of a package of buprenorphine (a.k.a. suboxone) that was not prescribed to her.
Eldridge was transported to the Madison County Jail where she was held pending a formal review of facts by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The felony warrant and information was issued by Judge Neil Schroeder, who set Fischer’s bond at $15,000.
