ALTON – Police are on the lookout for suspects who might have been involved in an Alton residential burglary on Monday.
The Alton Police Department responded at 10:33 p.m. Monday to 1422 Milton Road, Apt. 3.
According to police documents, officials contacted the landlord of the apartment complex, who said one of his tenants had reported a burglary.
He showed police that suspects had pried open the door of the apartment near the doorknob.
Police reports said officials talked with the tenant, Trevor Sutton, 25, of Alton, who said he believed the burglary happened between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Sutton, according to police records, said nothing appeared to have been missing except his six-string Yamaha acoustic guitar, which he estimated at less than $150.
Officials said in reports both Sutton and the landlord noticed earlier two unidentified people wearing hoodies and loitering around the apartment.
When Sutton approached the suspects, they ran eastbound and jumped a picket fence. Reports said they continued to run across Milton Road, fleeing north on South Rodgers Avenue.
Police checked the scene for the suspects but did not locate anyone.
Anyone with information on possible suspects should contact the Alton Police Department at 618-463-3505.
