LITCHFIELD — A Litchfield man is facing DUI and other charges after a single-vehicle crash in Macoupin County early Saturday, Dec. 6.
According to an Illinois State Police District 18 press release, Jimmy D. Darrah, 49, of Litchfield, was driving a 1999 Acura west on Illinois 16 at Franke Road at 2:07 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and began to skid. The vehicle left the road to the right and hit a utility pole with the driver side of the vehicle, causing the pole to break. Darrah was ejected from the vehicle and was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield by Gillespie/Benld Ambulance Service. Alcohol is believed to a factor in the crash, police said.
Darrah was charged with driving while driver’s license revoked, driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid accident, improper lane usage and failure to wear seat belt.
