EAST ST. LOUIS — A Madison man was sentenced Friday in federal court to six months in prison on a weapons charge.
In a press release, U.S. Attorney Stephen R. Wigginton said Dexter L. McClendon, 26, also will serve 12 months of home confinement on one count of possession of a weapon by a prohibited person.
McClendon was previously convicted of misdemeanor domestic battery, which prohibited him from possessing firearms or ammunition. On July 28, 2014, he had been in possession of a 7.62-caliber rifle.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Reppert.
