MADISON — The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been activated to investigate a double shooting that left one man dead and another in the hospital.
According to a press release from Det. Lt. Mike Nordstrom of the Granite City Police Department, at approximately 12:49 a.m. Tuesday, the Madison Police Department received a call of multiple persons shot near the intersection of Seventh Street and Alton Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located two gunshot wound victims near the intersection, Roderick D. Williams, 31, and James A. Moore, 23, both of Madison. Emergency medical personnel arrived a short time later and rendered aid to both victims. Both victims were transported to a St. Louis area hospital.
Williams was later pronounced dead at a St. Louis area hospital; Moore's condition is unknown.
The Major Case Squad continues to follow and investigate leads and is requesting anyone with information to contact St. Louis Regional Crimestoppers at (866) 371-8477. There is up to a $5,000 dollar cash reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
Sixteen investigators from the Major Case Squad are working on the investigation.
