A Collinsville man was charged today in Madison County Circuit Court with a felony charge of aggravated driving while under the influence, Sheriff Robert J. Hertz said in a press release.
Police identified the suspect as Delfino Lopez-Cuadriello, 32, who was listed as homeless.
On Thursday, Feb. 20, at 11:22 p.m., a deputy stopped the vehicle Lopez-Cuadriello was driving on Collinsville Road near Black Lane in Collinsville for lane usage offenses. Lopez-Cuadriello appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. The deputy determined Lopez-Cuadriello did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance on the vehicle he was driving. Lopez-Cuadriello was arrested and transported to the Madison County Jail, where he was held pending a review of facts by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The warrant and criminal information was signed by Judge Kyle Napp, who set Lopez-Cuadriello’s bond at $25,000. Lopez-Cuadriello qualified for the enhanced felony offense because he did not possess a driver’s license or permit at the time of the DUI offense.
