A rural Moro man was charged today in Madison County Circuit Court with a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, alprazolam; and a misdemeanor charge of cannabis possession, Madison County Sheriff Robert J. Hertz said in a press release.
Police said at about 11:15 p.m. Monday, a sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle on North Stanley Road, near Fourth Street in Cottage Hills, for registration-related offenses. Police searched the driver, Chad Dickerson, 23, of the 6600 block of Renken Road, who was on parole at the time of the stop, and found about 14 grams of cannabis. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of an alprazolam tablet.
Dickerson was taken into custody and transported to the Madison County Jail, where he were held pending a formal review of facts by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The felony warrant and information was signed by the Honorable Judge Kyle Napp, who set bond at $15,000. Dickerson was also issued citations for no front registration plate and no rear registration light.
