WOOD RIVER — Three Wood River residents face weapons and drug charges after a raid on an East Acton residence.
At 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, Wood River Police, with assistance from an Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System Region 8 tactical unit, executed a search warrant on a residence in the 900 block of East Acton.
Based on a resident’s tip, Wood River narcotics officers developed information within the past week of a possible cannabis-growing operation in the residence’s basement.
“We always appreciate tips from citizens,” Police Chief Otis Steward said.
After further investigation, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized a search warrant for the residence.
Upon execution of the search warrant, police seized more than 30 cannabis plants, growing materials and four firearms from the residence.
On Wednesday, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office charged David L. Hoffmann, 40, with one count of unlawful production of cannabis and three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon; Ted D. Titsworth, 52, with one count of unlawful production of cannabis and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon; and Brittany N. Smith, 20, with one count of unlawful production of cannabis.
Judge Richard Tognarelli set bond of $100,000 for Hoffman and Titsworth and $25,000 for Smith.
Hoffman and Smith are not in custody. Anyone with information on their whereabouts can call the Wood River Police at 618-251-3114.
