On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at approximately 10:22 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 4000 block of Division Street, Granite City, Illinois, in reference to a report of a residential burglary. Deputies met with an occupant of the residence who reported someone had entered his home while he was away and stole miscellaneous electronics and video games.
On Thursday, August 7, 2014, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office received information identifying Cody Vivod as a person of interest in the burglary case which occurred on Division Street. Sheriff’s deputies contacted Vivod at a home in Pontoon Beach, Illinois, and subsequently developed probable cause to charge Vivod with Residential Burglary. Through investigative efforts evidence was recovered which linked Vivod to the burglary. Sheriff’s deputies continued their investigation and discovered evidence which identified Amollie John Gale lll as an associate of Vivod and linked him to the burglary. Probable cause was ultimately developed to charge Gale with Residential Burglary.
Vivod was taken into custody and transported to the Madison County Jail where he was held pending a formal review of facts by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office. Gale is currently not in police custody and remains at large.
The felony warrant and information was signed by the Honorable Judge Richard Tognarelli, who set bond at $100,000.00 for each man. Vivod remains in custody at the Madison County Jail. This incident remains under investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
