WOOD RIVER — Two suspects have been charged in the beating of a man in an alley.
Deputy Chief Dan Bunt said Cody Northcutt, 19, of Wood River; and Jerome Graves, 21, were charged with attacking a man at midnight July 1 in an alley near the 500 block of Wood River Avenue. The victim was treated at OSF Saint Anthony's Health Center for a broken thumb and lacerations to his upper body.
Graves is in police custody and a warrant has been issued for Northcutt’s arrest.
The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Graves and Northcutt Dec. 9 with one count of aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony; and one count of mob action, a Class 4 felony.
Bail was set at $20,000 on each suspect.
A Class 3 felony is punishable by two to five years’ imprisonment; a Class 4 felony is punishable by one to three years' imprisonment.
