WOOD RIVER — Two men were charged Monday in a November armed robbery at Vantage Credit Union, 217 E. Ferguson.
In a press release, Deputy Chief Dan Bunt said Akil Q. Harris, 23, of St. Louis; and Soloman L. Hubbard, 24, of Alton, each were charged by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office with one count of armed robbery, a Class X felony; and one count of financial institution robbery, a Class 1 felony.
At approximately 11:14 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, the Wood River Police Department received a call reporting an armed robbery at the credit union. The suspects demanded money from the employees and last were seen running northwest from the credit union with an undetermined amount of cash.
After a joint investigation involving the Wood River Police Department, the Alton Police Department, the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Office, the two suspects were identified and arrested.
Alton police arrested Hubbard on an unrelated incident shortly after the robbery. U.S. marshals picked up Harris when he exited a plane in Portland, Ore.
Hubbard’s bond is set at $1 million; Harris’ bond is set at $200,000. Both are in custody at the Madison County Jail.
