Dorchester is known for its great river fish. Because of high river levels, buffalo availability may be limited. If so, a special-recipe catfish will be served thereafter. Other offerings include barbecue sandwiches, burgers, homemade pies and more. Food stands are open all three days. Family fun includes inflatables and mini-golf. Bingo will be played every night.
Music for your dancing pleasure kicks off with the The Owlz, playing 8 p.m. to midnight on Friday. Weekend sporting events begin with a kittenball game for children eighth grade and under. Simply show up Friday; teams will be picked starting at 3 p.m., with play starting shortly thereafter. Adult co-ed kittenball tournament play begins Friday evening on the lighted field.
Saturday activities start with an open-pitch horseshoe tournament. Signup starts at 9 a.m., with pitching to start at 10 a.m. Saturday continues with co-ed kittenball tournament games and a DJ playing throughout the day. The celebration parade is at 6 p.m. Fireworks light up the evening sky at dusk. Ultraviolet plays from 8 p.m. until midnight.
New this year is live music on Sunday afternoon. The Outsiders play from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday events feature a lawn tractor pull sponsored by the Prairieland Garden Tractor Pullers with weigh-in at 10:30 a.m., pulling to start at 11:30 a.m.; and a washer tournament with signup at noon, playing to start at 1 p.m. The co-ed kittenball tournament continues throughout the day, with the championship game played Sunday evening. The Real Street Band closes out the weekend, playing from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The culmination will be the drawing for prizes donated by area merchants. Make sure you get your tickets prior to the drawing. They sell three for $1.
