The East Alton Village Board met Tuesday, April 1, and business included the following:
- Authorizing the 2014 motor fuel tax maintenance program. The village will use $291,997 for the purpose of maintaining its streets and highways from May 1, 2014, to April 30, 2015. Projects include ice and snow removal, maintenance and operations on traffic signals, concrete patching and miscellaneous repairs to concrete, painting crosswalks, traffic lanes, curbs and restricted areas, culvert drainage structure repair and/or possible replacement and modernizing and replacing traffic regulatory signs.
- Proclaiming April 1, 2014, as National Service Recognition Day, which aims to encourage residents to recognize the positive impact of national service in the village, to thank those who serve and to find ways to give back to the communities they live in.
- Proclaiming May 2014 as Building Safety Month, which acknowledges projects aimed at improving building safety and sustainability at home and in the community and the essential services provided by local and state building departments, fire prevention bureaus and federal agencies in protecting lives and property.
