GRANITE CITY — U.S. Rep. Bill Enyart (D-Illinois) has invited the president of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations to visit the 12th Congressional District on Saturday, Sept. 13.
Enyart and AFL-CIO International President Richard Trumka will visit with labor organizations and constituents at a United Steel Workers Rally at 11 a.m. at the Elks Lodge, 4801 Maryville Road in Granite City.
Enyart will speak to members of the United Steel Workers at a rally and picnic in Granite City. Trumka will encourage members to vote in the upcoming November election and talk about issues facing the labor industry. District 7 Director Mike Millsap will be in attendance as well.
Enyart, who has served in Congress since January 2013, is facing state Rep. Mike Bost of Murphysboro in the Nov. 4 election. Enyart served in the Air Force, Air Force Reserve and the Army National Guard for about three decades, retiring as adjutant general of the Illinois National Guard in 2012 to run for Congress.
