ALTON — Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation announces that family nurse practitioner Melanie Banal has joined the internal medicine team at Alton Women’s Health Center, 2 Memorial Drive.
Banal manages care for women 15 and older with a focus on preventative health and the treatment of both acute and chronic conditions.
Banal is dedicated to establishing a collaborative relationship between patient and provider to give each woman greater control over her health.
“As an FNP, my goal is to be open-minded to a patient’s particular situation while providing the highest-quality care than meets her specific medical needs,” Banal said.
Prior to joining Alton Women’s Health Center, Banal served as a staff nurse in the emergency department at Belleville Memorial Hospital and as the ER manager for Carlinville Community Hospital. Banal earned her master of science in nursing from Walden University and her bachelor of science in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing. She has been a volunteer and fund-raiser for both the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Make-A-Wish and has served as a volunteer nurse for O’Fallon Tomahawks softball team.
Banal is accepting new patients at Alton Women’s Health Center, and appointments can be scheduled by calling (618) 462-6040. The center is unique in the region by providing both OB/GYN and women-specific primary care in one central location.
