BRIGHTON — A fire Friday morning damaged a family’s home in Brighton.
Lt. Mike Mulrean of the Brighton Betsey Ann Fire Protection District said crews responded at 8:43 a.m. to a fire in the 200 block of Avalon Street. The home’s five occupants, two adults and their three children, were out of the house when firefighters arrived. No one was injured in the fire.
The fire took about 20 minutes to extinguish and the fire department was back in service at about 10:30 a.m., Mulrean said.
The fire originated in the back of the house and the cause is under investigation, he said.
The house had fire, smoke and water damage but does not appear to be a total loss, Mulrean said. The fire department helped the family find a place to stay.
The Fosterburg and Godfrey fire departments provided mutual aid.
