GODFREY — Freer Auto Body will observe its 25th year in business this year.
The business opened in 1991 with meager beginnings and a 1,500-square-foot building. Today, it is a 17,000-square-foot technologically advanced facility with 20 employees with the highest certifications for collision repair.
Freer Auto Body will be celebrating its silver anniversary all year. Freer has always credited the community with its success because of the community support it received from day one. In continuing its community commitment, the business will be sponsoring 12 months of sharing and caring. Each month they will do something special. The January sharing and caring event will be 25 car seats donated to Alton Memorial Hospital’s Women’s Health and Childbirth Center. Babies cannot leave the hospital without being in a car seat. The staff often is required to assist with this task.
“Our local nurses give of themselves every day and we do not want them to be burdened with finding car seats,” a press release states. “We think this act of kindness will bring smiles to many faces.”
Freer Auto Body encourages others to make a difference. To date, Zeke Jabusch of the North Alton Godfrey Business Council, Keith Neuber of Creative Kids Learning Center and Heritage Gardens have committed to this project and are purchasing car seats for Alton Memorial Hospital Birthing Center. To help with this project, purchase an infant car seat and deliver it to Alton Memorial Hospital, 1 Memorial Drive, Alton; or Freer Auto Body, 4512 Alby St., Godfrey.
