GODFREY - Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Godfrey Women’s Club’s Christmas Carousel is an opportunity for women to raise money to make their community a better place to live, work and play.
The carousel and other smaller fundraisers allow the club to continue supporting community outreach programs, beautification programs, scholarships and donations to other groups.
The club was able to donate $25,000 to the Lewis and Clark Community College Endowment Fund, creating a scholarship at the college. The women also managed to support cleaning up litter along Pierce Lane, supported Senior Services Plus, delivered Easter baskets to Beverley Farm residents, collected personal items for the Oasis center and helped with the mailing of Beverly Farms' newsletter.
Each November, the women mail greeting cards to local veterans. In December, the women shop for families that would otherwise not have a Christmas and ring bells for the local Salvation Army.
