Illinois Department of Transportation officials ask motorists to be patient, reduce speed and use caution when traveling in work zones.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that traffic will be reduced to one lane on Illinois 140 from Illinois 159 to Illinois 157 in Hamel beginning today, Aug. 14.
Flaggers will maintain two-way traffic for pavement patching, surface removal, and resurfacing. Temporary signals will be used on the bridgework to maintain two-way traffic. All work is expected to be completed by the end of November 2014.
The department asks that motorists be patient, reduce speed, and use caution when traveling near and throughout this work zone. Allow for extra time when traveling in this location and watch for stopped traffic ahead. Additional signing and traffic control devices will be provided to assist motorists through the work zones.
