Illinois Department of Transportation officials ask motorists to be patient, reduce speed and use caution when traveling in work zones.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that traffic will be reduced to one lane during daylight hours on Illinois 3 from the Jersey County line to Pierce Lane near Godfrey and from Illinois 109 in Jersey County to the Madison County line beginning Monday, June 30, weather permitting.
Flaggers and other traffic control devices will be utilized to maintain two-way traffic. The project includes pavement patching, milling, resurfacing, and pavement marking. The project is expected to be completed by Nov. 30.
The department asks that motorists be patient, reduce speed and use extreme caution when traveling near and throughout this work zone. Allow for extra time when traveling in this location and watch for stopped traffic ahead. Additional signing and traffic control devices will be provided to assist motorists through the work zones .
