CU Lunch Local is a national credit union effort aimed at supporting local businesses.
As part of 1st MidAmerica Credit Union’s International Credit Union Week celebration, employees are encouraged to eat lunch at local restaurants on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
Whether it’s getting their morning coffee from The Grindhouse Cafe in Bethalto, treating their department to doughnuts from Wood River Donut or grabbing lunch at Whit Spot Diner in Jerseyville, employees are encouraged to support local businesses around each branch. By buying local, the money spent stays in the community.
In addition, employees will be provided cards that can be left on the table to let local restaurants know 1st MidAmerica supports local businesses. To share the CU Lunch Local movement online, pictures of employees lunching local will be posted on Facebook to share with members and community.
CU Lunch Local is just one of the many ways credit unions across the country are celebrating the milestone of reaching 100 million members and International Credit Union Week. Reaching 100 million members is a momentous occasion for credit unions. Now, one of three Americans is a credit union member.
