GRANITE CITY — Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation (SIHF) announces that Dr. Leyland A. Thomas has joined the internal medicine department at McKinley Health Center.
Thomas, along with internists Drs. Oladele Ajao and Jowe Hsieh and Carl Anderson, offers patients in the Granite City area care in their own community.
Thomas has 40 years of professional experience in internal medicine. He is accepting new patients at McKinley Health Center, 2166 Madison Ave. in Granite City, and appointments can be scheduled by calling (618) 452-3301.
Thomas said his approach to health care centers on creating a strong bond between physician and patient, guiding individuals with the information they need to make smart decisions on a daily basis.
“People are best served when they can control their own situation,” he said. “That’s not just giving pills and medicines. It’s helping patients be informed so that they can take better care of themselves.”
Thomas earned his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine and performed his residencies at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis University (SLU) School of Medicine and St. Luke’s Hospital. Prior to arriving at McKinley Health Center, Thomas ran his own private internal medicine practice in St. Louis and served as assistant medical examiner for St. Louis city and county.
