The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that daytime eastbound and westbound lane closures will be encountered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Monday, March 31, on I-55/70 between Illinois 157 and Interstate 270, weather permitting.
These intermittent lane restrictions are required to remove and replace guardrail, cable median barrier and impact attenuators. This work should be completed by May 31.
The department asks that motorists be patient, reduce speed, obey warning signs and use additional caution when traveling near and throughout this work zone.

Interstate 270 lane closure tonight
IDOT announced that a nighttime lane closure will be encountered on Interstate 270 on Wednesday, March 19, at the Chain of Rocks Canal near Granite City for the westbound lane, weather permitting.
The lane closure will begin at 9 p.m. tonight and the lane will be reopened by 5 a.m. Thursday. Traffic will be guided through the work zone utilizing flaggers, traffic control devices and traffic control signing. Use extreme caution while traveling through the work zone. This lane closure is necessary to facilitate construction of the new canal structure.
