The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Illinois 267 will be restricted to one lane at Macoupin Creek during daylight hours beginning Monday, May 2.
Intermittent daylight lane closures will be utilized until temporary traffic signals are installed at this location. Once the temporary traffic signals are installed, Illinois 267 will be restricted to one-lane and two-way traffic will be maintained through this area via the temporary traffic signals. This work is required in order to make repairs to the existing bridge and is expected to be completed by the end of August 2016.
The department advises the traveling public to follow all construction signs and drive with caution through the work zones.
I-55/70 lane closure
A lane closure will be encountered on eastbound Interstate 55/70, approximately 2 miles east of Illinois 203, near Fairmont City.
The eastbound right lane closure is effective immediately. It is anticipated the lane closure will remain in place until 3 p.m. April 27. The lane closure is needed to repair a bridge expansion joint.
The left lane and center lane of eastbound I-55/70 will remain open to traffic during this time frame.
It is anticipated this lane restriction will result in significant traffic delays; motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes. Traffic control devices will be utilized during this lane restriction to assist motorists making their way through the work zone. The department asks that motorists be patient, slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through this work zone.
