COLLINSVILLE — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Friday that a nighttime lane closure will be encountered on eastbound Interstate 270 Monday, Aug. 24, between Chain of Rocks Canal bridge and the Mississippi River bridge near Granite City.
This lane closure is necessary to make modifications to the Intelligent Traffic Systems installed alongside the interstate.
The lane closure will begin at 9 p.m. and the lane will be reopened by 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Traffic will be guided through the work zone utilizing flaggers, traffic control devices and traffic control signing. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution while traveling through the work zone.
Grafton area lane closures
The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that lane closures will occur in both directions on Illinois 100 from Ski Lift Road to Vine Street and on Illinois 3 from north of Grafton Hills Drive to Illinois 100, both in Grafton, beginning Aug. 24.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane. These lane restrictions are necessary to complete work to preserve the existing pavement and will be in effect through Oct. 31.
The department asks that motorists be patient, reduce speed and use extreme caution when traveling near and throughout this work zone. Drivers are asked to allow for extra time when traveling in this location and to watch for stopped traffic ahead. Additional signing, traffic control devices and flaggers will be provided to assist motorists through the work zones.
