ALTON — With back to school season under way, State Rep. Dan Beiser (D-Alton) hosted a child safety seat inspection with Riverbend Headstart & Family Services in Alton Tuesday, Sept. 22.
“Thank you to everyone that was able to attend the child safety seat inspection,” Beiser said. “These inspections are a valuable resource in the community and should be provided regularly. I am happy to see my constituents take advantage of an opportunity to ensure their children’s safety. Hosting this event at the beginning of the school year was important to me because it helped parents and guardians guarantee that their children were starting the year off safely.”
The inspection was no cost to residents. Certified technicians checked car seats to certify that they were installed properly, and that they were size and age-appropriate
“I’d like to thank Representative Beiser for hosting the free child safety seat inspection,” Jeannie Tarter of Alton said. “Knowing that my grandchild’s safety seat is installed properly gives me some peace of mind. We never know when a car accident might happen, but making sure that our kids are buckled up correctly is the best step that we can take to help safeguard their well-being.”
The Simmons Employee Foundation donated money to Riverbend Headstart & Family Services to help make this event possible. Their donation allowed Riverbend Headstart to purchase different-size car seats. If a parent or caregiver did not have the correct car seat for their child’s size or age, they were given a new one to ensure that the child would be buckled up properly.
