BETHALTO — A March Against Bullying will celebrate the life of an autistic boy who committed suicide.
The memorial for Shane Laycock will be at noon Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Bethalto Police Department, 213 N. Prairie St.
“After the tragic suicide of Shane in the wake of traumatic bullying, we ask the community to come out in support,” march organizers said in a press release. “Shane was diagnosed with autism and felt isolated and misunderstood by his peers. The march will celebrate the beautiful life lost by walking barefoot, a favorite activity of Shane. (If you’re worried about cold toes, you’re welcome to walk with shoes as well.) We hope to never see another loss of life due to bullying.”
Donations at the march will support Shane’s family.
