On behalf of the circuit judges of the Third Judicial Circuit, Third Circuit Chief Judge David A. Hylla announces the appointment of Martin J. Mengarelli as an associate judge to replace Keith Jensen, who resigned effective Aug. 31.
Mengarelli earned his law degree from Northern Illinois University in 1993. Mengarelli has been an associate with Simmons Hanly Conroy since 2009. He previously was a partner with Andrews and Mengarelli from 2003-2009, an associate with Hopkins Goldenberg from 2001-2003, and an associate with Morris B. Chapman and Associates from 1993-2001.
Mengarelli is a current member and past president of the Tri City Bar Association. He is a current member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Madison County Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, Missouri Bar Association, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, Wisconsin Bar Association and American Association of Justice.
Mengarelli served in the U.S. Army from 1985-1987 and has assisted military veterans with disability claims and other legal matters pro bono.
Mengarelli has served as house captain for Rebuilding Together in Madison County from 2000 to 2010, served as a board member and director of the SEF Charitable Foundation from 2009 to 2013, and volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels for Senior Services Plus from 2004 to 2009.
“I have known Marty and respected his legal ability for many years. His record of community and military service speaks for itself. I am confident that he will carry the same high level of dedication to public service with him to the bench. Marty Mengarelli’s ability, experience and concern for others will make him an outstanding member of the Madison County judiciary,” Chief Judge David Hylla said.
Mengarelli, of Maryville, is married to Madison County attorney Laura Andrews. Their daughter, Maria, is a freshman at the University of Missouri.
