COLLINSVILLE — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the timeline for the reopening of the MLK Jr. Bridge over the Mississippi River in East St. Louis.
The department anticipates opening the bridge the week of Dec. 21, weather permitting. Future updates will be issued as the opening date approaches.
After the bridge is reopened to traffic there may be periodic temporary closures of the bridge over the next several months to complete minor work items and remove the contractor’s scaffolding. Any additional closures would be limited to weekends and/or weekday off-peak traffic hours.
