ALTON – No injuries were reported this weekend when an unidentified motorcycle rider crashed a bike into an Alton man’s home.
According to police documents, the driver of a 2001 black Suzuki GSX 1100 motorcycle was driving north on Milton Road at 9:01 p.m. Saturday, March 15.
The driver approached a left turn on Brown Street, and because the suspect was operating the vehicle in an “erratic, reckless, careless or aggressive manner,” failed to keep it within traffic lanes and lost control of the bike, striking the “turf porch” on the home at 3210 Brown St.
The suspect was attempting to elude the Alton Police Department at the time of the incident and proceeded to flee on foot after the crash. Police reports said the vehicle fled a traffic stop.
Reports also said the driver had not yet been caught and no citations had been issued yet as a result of the hit and run. The investigation is ongoing.
The motorcycle was towed from the scene by Fred’s Towing in Alton.
Cody J. Elfgen of the 100 block of North Pence Street in East Alton is the motorcycle's registered owner.
