COLLINSVILLE — A motorcyclist was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after rear-ending a pickup this morning on Illinois 255 near Bethalto.
According to an Illinois State Police press release, the northbound driver of a 1993 Harley-Davidson motorcycle struck the rear of a northbound 1992 Ford Ranger at 6:51 a.m. Thursday at milepost 10 of Illinois 255.
The motorcycle driver, an unidentified 33-year-old man from Columbia, Ill., was transported to a St. Louis area hospital via helicopter with life-threatening injuries. The pickup driver, a 67-year-old man from Swansea, was uninjured.
No citations were issued and State Police are investigating the crash.
All lanes of I-255 were reopened at approximately 8 a.m.
