MEADOWBROOK — A motorist was cited for multiple traffic violations after a crash Sunday night involving an Illinois State Police trooper.
Trooper Chris Currier said Russell Romaine, 23, collided with Trooper Shaun Dannenbrink at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, as Romaine was driving a Dodge Ram out of a Casey’s General Store parking lot on Illinois 140 about 100 feet east of Maple Drive in Meadowbrook. Romaine left the scene of the crash but police located him a short time later.
Romaine, who was not the owner of the vehicle, was cited for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving with a suspended driver’s license, driving without insurance and improper lane usage. Romaine borrowed the vehicle from a friend, Currier said.
Dannenbrink was transported to Alton Memorial Hospital as a precaution and released later Sunday evening.
