Lawanda Smith, founder and former director of the Wood River Museum, is returning to the area.
On Sept. 25, she will be speaking about early families from the area and the beginnings of what is today the city of Wood River. Smith, who currently makes her home in Wichita, Kan., has retired from the World Treasure Museum in Kansas.
The lecture will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Wood River Museum, 40 W. Ferguson. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.
