COLLINSVILLE — The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that beginning Monday evening, March 30, both eastbound and westbound Interstate 270 will be reduced from two lanes to one lane between the new Chain of Rocks Canal Bridge and Illinois 3.
These lane restrictions will begin after 9 p.m. each evening and will be removed by 5 a.m. the following morning with all work being completed by 5 a.m. Friday, April 3. These lane restrictions are necessary to install the permanent pavement markings along I-270.
In addition to the lane restrictions, the ramp from eastbound I-270 onto southbound Illinois 3 will be closed Tuesday, March 31. The ramp closure will begin at 9 p.m. and will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning. A posted detour will be in place to guide eastbound motorists to Illinois 203, where they will exit and be directed back onto westbound I-270 and sent back to Illinois 3.
Motorists are asked to use extreme caution while traveling through the work zone.
